Connect Within • Heal • Grow Forward
Trauma-informed counselling to help you heal, reconnect with your strengths, move forward with greater clarity & confidence.

Hi, I’m Samiha. I’m glad you’re here.
My own journey has taken me across different cultures, communities, roles, and stages of life. Along the way, I have come to appreciate how deeply our experiences, relationships, culture, and the ways we learn to cope can shape how we see ourselves and move through the world.
Before becoming a counsellor, much of my professional life centred around supporting individuals and families as they navigated change, adjustment, and new beginnings. Those experiences strengthened something I continue to believe today: we are more than the challenges we face, and meaningful change often begins when we feel genuinely seen, heard, and understood.
My path into counselling grew from a desire to create that kind of space for others.
Why I Became a Therapist
I believe there is often wisdom behind the ways we have learned to protect ourselves, even when those patterns are no longer helping us in the way they once did.
That understanding shapes how I approach therapy. Rather than asking, “What is wrong with you?” I am more interested in exploring with compassion and curiosity: “What has happened? What have you needed to do to get through it? And what might you need now?”
I don’t see therapy as changing you into someone else. I see it as an opportunity to understand yourself more deeply, reconnect with your strengths, heal from what continues to affect you, and discover new possibilities for moving forward.
What It’s Like to Work With Me
My style is warm, collaborative, compassionate, and gently curious. I want therapy to be a space where you don’t have to arrive with the right words or have everything figured out.
I integrate trauma-informed and evidence-based approaches, including EMDR, parts-informed therapy, ACT, CBT, DBT, mindfulness, somatic approaches, and narrative therapy. At the same time, I don’t believe therapy should feel like a collection of techniques.
The person comes before the approach.
Together, we can explore what feels helpful for you, at a pace that respects your experiences, needs, culture, values, and goals.
The Values I Bring Into the Therapy Room
I value compassion, authenticity, curiosity, cultural humility, and respect for each person’s lived experience. Having lived across different cultures and communities has shaped my appreciation for the many ways family, culture, belonging, expectations, identity, and life transitions can influence our inner worlds.
I aim to create a space where all parts of your experience are welcome, where you can explore not only what has been difficult, but also the strengths, values, hopes, and possibilities already within you.
Beyond the Therapist
Outside of my professional work, I value mindfulness, reflection, movement, nature, meaningful connection, and continuing to learn and grow.
I believe therapists are human beings first. While our stories may be different, I bring that humanity into the therapy room with warmth, presence, curiosity, and respect for the courage it can take to share your story with someone else.
You Don’t Have to Have It All Figured Out
If you’re wondering whether we might be a good fit, I invite you to begin with a conversation. You can share a little about what brings you to therapy, ask questions, and get a sense of what it might feel like to work together.

At SkyLume Therapy, healing is not about becoming someone different. It is about creating a compassionate space to understand your experiences, reconnect with your strengths, and discover possibilities that may have become difficult to see.
SkyLume Therapy — illuminating possibilities for healing, growth, and meaningful change.
Sometimes the ways we learned to cope, protect ourselves, or keep going no longer serve us in the way they once did. Therapy can offer a compassionate space to slow down, understand these patterns, reconnect with yourself, and discover new possibilities for moving forward.
EMDR, Parts-informed work, ACT and Mindfulness/Somatic approaches
You don’t need to have everything figured out before beginning therapy. We can start with where you are.
Understand, not judge.
Explore your experiences and patterns with curiosity and compassion.
Connect, not disconnect.
Build greater awareness of your emotions, needs, body, values and inner experience.
Heal, not simply cope.
When appropriate, we can work with underlying experiences and patterns—not only manage symptoms.
Move forward with intention.
Develop practical skills and make choices that feel increasingly aligned with the life you want to create.
Sometimes understanding what happened isn’t enough to change how it continues to feel.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based psychotherapy approach designed to help people process distressing experiences and memories that may continue to affect emotions, beliefs, relationships and everyday life.
Your sessions can be described as warm, collaborative and non-judgmental. Some sessions may involve exploring emotions and experiences more deeply; others may focus on developing practical strategies, understanding patterns, strengthening emotional regulation, or working toward a specific goal.
And importantly:
You set the pace.
Begin Where You Are.
You don’t have to see the whole path before taking the first step.
Healing can begin with a conversation.
